I had an early morning start as I had to go to an appointment in the suburb of Hiroo. I had never been before, but it turned out to be a lovely little place that had a lot of nooks and crannies to explore!
I had a wonderful lunch which, as you can see, was ginormous. It was a lunch special, so was only 1200 yen/ $14. It was absolutely delicious!
I strolled around for hours, peeking into little shops, eating pastries, and stumbling upon a beautiful garden and lake. I bought a beautiful print by an artist depicting scenes from one of my favourite stories growing up, The Little Match Girl. I got carried away with walking, and found all these embassies- Turkish, the EU, Pakistani, amongst others. It was interesting to see how the embassies varied architecturally in accordance to its representative country.
After, feeling cultural, I went to Ginza . Ginza is basically the posh part of Tokyo- where all the big name brands line the street. But it's interesting because the buildings are just mesmorising works of achitecture.
I went to see the breathtaking woodblock prints by Hiroshige Utagagawa. They were showing for free in the Mitsukoshi department store so I was lucky! I could not believe they were woodblock prints- they were so painfully detailed, they seemed more like paintings. To my surprise, I had seen one of the works before as my mum owns a print of it.
Day 2 let me appreciate some hidden aspects of Tokyo that I hadn't yet encountered. A rewarding day!
